Somethings never have an answer, for they never had a question. Like you and me! Together and apart.

Is Rehman Playing Pritam?

Did you hear to Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar music? Did anything surprise you? Ting-Ling-Ting-Ling!!! Boisterous, Punjabi folk mixed with new beats! Sounds familiar with Pritam’s musical style for Imtiaz Ali’s films. There is a certain range & mood of tones that Pritam integrates only for Ali. And that’s very visible from his last two offerings for the director. Rockstar strikes the same and you are left puzzled if it’s Pritam, again?

Rockstar – The latest musical offering from A.R. Rehman doesn’t offer anything Rehman-ish but for sure brings Pritam to notice. Sans credits, one could easily pass it off as another typical composition by Pritam for Ali.

If it is Rehman, music costs. But the same could have been easily achieved from Pritam. Music is proof. Ali’s Jab We Met and Love Aaj Kal had everyone crooning and every party dancing. Mauja Hi Mauja, Aahun Aahun

Rehman is good. Each time there is a composition of his to hit the market, we are all ears. But not all is gold from a gold mine. Music of Rockstar is average-good, a lot better than Rehman’s composition for Subhash Ghai’s Yuvvraj. But yes Rockstar promises to stay a lot longer on the lists (and on short-time-favourites’) as compared to Yuvvraj.

Not always does adding a big trumpet makes music sweet. We heard CWG Anthem. Well, Rockstar music is not that bad. But it's not Rehman-ish either.

Talking about what’s Rehman-ish – Yuva, Roja, Guru, etc. Listen to Beera from Raavan and its arresting tunes will haunt you for days.
